Car thief chased through Margate after daring Birchington break-in
Early morning raid leads to high-speed police chase
Just after 2.15am on Saturday 11 March, cops rushed to a Birchington home after burglars broke in and made off with a car parked outside.
Stolen vehicle spotted – pursuit ends with stinger used
Less than an hour later, the stolen car was seen in Margate. When police tried to stop it, the driver sped off, sparking a tense chase. Officers used a stinger to bring the chase to a dramatic halt. Two suspects were quickly arrested.
Two charged with burglary, theft, and drugs offences
- Lennie Edge, 19, from Tottenham, faces multiple charges including burglary, motor vehicle theft, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, and possession of a class B drug.
- Huseyin Yesildal, 18, from Mitcham, is charged with burglary, theft of the vehicle, possession of a knife, and possession of a class B drug.
Court appearances and custody updates
Both men appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday 13 March. They were remanded in custody and are due back at 1 Crown Court on Tuesday 11 April.
