Over the weekend of 18 and 19 April, uk/where/kent-places/">Kent Police officers carried out speed checks along the A2070 between Ashford and brenzett/">Brenzett, resulting in 10 motorists receiving Traffic Offence Reports. These give drivers the option of attending a speed awareness court or paying a fine and receiving points on their driving licence.
Officers took action against another three people who were reported for either not having insurance or road tax.
Inspector Jason Atkinson of Ashford Community Safety Unit said: ‘Officers carried out the checks following concerns raised by local residents of suspected bad driving.
‘We regularly carry out road safety checks across Ashford but will also respond when we receive reports of ongoing issues in a particular area.
‘We remind people to play their part in keeping our roads safe, the speed limit is there as a maximum speed, and not general guidance for them.
‘By driving responsibly and keeping your speed down, it will reduce the risks of collision, as well as improve quality of life for those who live near the road.’
