Terror Police charge Man with Terrorism Offences

A 27-year-old man arrested on Friday 13 April on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of a terrorist act, has this evening, Thursday 19 April been charged with three terrorism offences. Ahmed Hussain, 27 of Newham has been charged with: one count of encouragement of terrorism, contrary to section 1(2) of the Terrorism Act 2006 and two counts of possession of a document containing information useful for terrorist purposes, contrary to section 58(1)(b) of the Terrorism Act 2000. Hussain has been remanded in custody to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court at 10:00hrs on Friday, 20 April. The arrest was made under TACT following an operation by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command (CTC). As part of the same investigation, a 24-year-old woman was arrested at an address in north London on suspicion of having information about acts of terrorism. She was detained under PACE and taken to a south London police station. She was subsequently released on police bail until early May pending further enquiries.
