Teen Tragedy: Family Mourns Boy Killed in Southampton Crash
The family of 14-year-old Layton Cashmore has paid a heartbreaking tribute after he died from injuries sustained in a collision in Southampton.
Deadly Crash on Hill Lane
The smash happened at 5.18pm on Monday, 18 July, at Hill Lane near Warwick Road. A Suzuki motorcycle, carrying Layton as a pillion passenger, collided with a VW Golf.
Layton, from Hedge End, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital but sadly passed away.
Family Heartbroken
“As a family, we cannot put into words how much this hurts,” they said.
“Layton truly is one of a kind; with the biggest heart, he left an impression on everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.”
“We will never be the same as a family.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses
PS Jon Bates of the Roads Policing Unit is leading the investigation. He said:
“First and foremost, I would like to express my condolences to Layton’s family.”
“We urge anyone who saw the collision or has dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage to come forward.”
“Please tell us if you know who was involved or if you saw a moped at the scene and know the riders.”
Three 16-year-old boys from Southampton were arrested but have now been released pending further inquiries.
