Speeding Crackdown Catches Dozens in Thanet Road Checks
Police slammed the brakes on dangerous driving during surprise road checks in Ramsgate and Margate last Friday morning. Officers from Margate Task Force and Thanet Community Policing Team targeted hotspots on Manston Road and Canterbury Road, catching 39 vehicles under the scanner.
12 Drivers Hit with Fines, One Car Snatched
Out of those stopped, 12 were slapped with reports for offences. Ten were clocked speeding, one was caught endangering an infant by not using a child seat, and one unlucky motorist faced an insurance bust – resulting in his car being seized on the spot.
Drugs Arrest Rocks Sittingbourne Motorist
A 30-year-old man from Sittingbourne was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and cannabis possession. He’s now been released under investigation as police continue their inquiries.
Police Warning Ahead of Road Traffic Surge
Sergeant Dave Reynaert of Margate Task Force warned: “As lockdown restrictions ease, we expect more traffic. Drivers must ensure their vehicles are roadworthy and stay alert. The speed limit is the absolute maximum, and conditions like congestion or rain mean you should drive slower.”
