Tragic Deaths of Two Young Boys in Dagenham Shock Community

Emergency services were called to a home on Cornwallis Road, Dagenham, at around 2pm on Friday, 16 December. Inside, officers discovered the bodies of two young boys – a two-year-old and a five-year-old – both pronounced dead at the scene.

Woman and Man Arrested Near Scene

A woman was arrested shortly after police responded to a disturbance at a nearby address. A man was also taken into custody close to the scene. Both suspects are known to the children and remain in police custody as inquiries continue.

Met Police Launch Full Investigation

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s East Area BCU, working with Specialist Crime teams, have launched a major investigation into the tragic deaths. Post-mortem examinations and formal identifications will be arranged.

Detective Inspector Sean Treweek said: “This is clearly an extremely distressing incident with many unanswered questions, but at this very early stage, nobody else is sought in connection with the deaths.

I want to thank local people for their help as we work with partner agencies to get to the full facts of this tragedy. Additional officers will be in the area. Anyone with information or concerns should come forward.”

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Cordons remain in place around Cornwallis Road while inquiries are ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information to call 101, referencing incident CAD 3408/16dec.
