Man Shot and Stabbed in London Attack
Police were scrambled to Moorland Road, SW9, at 9:37pm on Wednesday, 2 June after reports of a seriously injured man. Officers, including armed units, arrived alongside the London Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance.
A 25-year-old was found with gunshot and stab wounds. He was rushed to a south London hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening but potentially life-changing.
Teen Arrested for Attempted Murder
A 17-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody as police continue their investigation. The Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Trident) is leading inquiries.
Violent Crowd Attacks Police
Tensions exploded at the scene when a large group confronted officers. Bottles and stones were hurled, resulting in assaults on at least two officers. Luckily, none needed hospital treatment and there were no serious injuries reported among the public.
The Territorial Support Group was called in to disperse the crowds around 12:30am, restoring order and setting up a secure crime scene. Officers remain in the area to reassure local residents.
Police Appeal for Information
Supt. Dan Ivey, responsible for Lambeth and Southwark policing, said: “The violent scenes we witnessed were unacceptable. A man sustained very serious injuries, and but for the fast response of officers and medical staff, this could have ended in murder.
“We’re doing everything to support Trident’s investigation. Residents will see increased police presence and I urge anyone with information to come forward. Silence only protects violent criminals.
“The attack on officers trying to control the scene was equally abhorrent. Those involved should know they will be identified and brought to justice.”
