Fines Quadruple for Illegal Raves and Parties in London
London’s police are slapping down mega fines to crush illegal parties and raves. Offenders now face penalties four times bigger than before, with organisers of huge gatherings hit hardest.
£200 Fines Soar to £10,000 for Party Organisers
- Attendees caught at illegal events still face £200 fines.
- Organisers of gatherings over 30 people risk eye-watering £10,000 fines.
- Officers crack down faster, with Met fines up nearly 80% in just a month during December and January.
Met Commander Issues Stark Warning
“If you are planning on attending an illegal gathering, party or rave this weekend, you are not only taking a very serious health risk but also a much bigger financial risk,” said Commander Alex Murray, lead for Covid-19 enforcement at the Met.
Murray added: “These events put huge pressure on our health services and could lead to avoidable deaths. We have no tolerance for blatant, dangerous breaches of the rules while the city faces such a critical point in the pandemic.”
Swift Action to Protect Londoners
Police stress that fines start at £200 for the first offence and quickly escalate. With the pandemic still raging, swift enforcement will continue to deter reckless behaviour.
Commander Murray concluded: “If you plan to party this weekend, be warned – it could cost you dearly. Not just your health, but also your wallet.”
