Three Boys Arrested After Transgender Woman Stabbed in Hate Crime
Three boys have been arrested following a brutal stabbing of a transgender woman in Stockton. The attack happened just before 6pm on Tuesday evening on Norton Road.
Teens Caught Over Knife Attack
Cleveland Police sent armed response units after reports of an assault involving a group of teenagers armed with a bladed weapon. The suspects, aged 12, 14, and 16, were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
The victim, a woman in her 20s, suffered a deep wound to her leg and was rushed to hospital for surgery. As of Wednesday afternoon, the trio remained in custody.
Police Condemn Hate Crime, Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
A police spokeswoman confirmed officers are supporting the victim and her family. Assistant Chief Constable Richard Baker slammed the attack, saying:
“Nobody should ever have to fear being targeted for simply being who they are. Physical violence against a person or slurs made regarding gender identity, race, disability, or any other difference will not be tolerated in our communities.”
Cleveland Police are urgently appealing for witnesses and anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage to come forward. They vow to investigate thoroughly and bring those responsible to justice.
