Tragic Death After Hit-and-Run on Cable Street

Police were called to a horror crash at 12.33am on Saturday, 6 July, involving a car and a cyclist near the junction of Cable Street and Cannon Street Road, E1. Emergency crews, including London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, raced to the scene.

Cyclist Dies at Scene

Despite frantic efforts, the cyclist — believed to be a man in his 30s — was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are now working to inform his next of kin.

Two Women Arrested Over Hit-and-Run

The car involved fled the scene immediately after the crash. Police later arrested two women on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop. Both remain in custody as investigations continue.

Road Closures and Appeal for Witnesses

Several roads near the site remain closed while detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) probe the incident. Authorities urge anyone with dash cam footage or information to come forward.
