Burglar Break-In Leaves Mother and Daughter Terrified
Intruder Raids Home While Only Teen Inside
A brazen burglar sparked fear and sleepless nights after breaking into a North Shields home. David Cox, 41, was jailed for 876 days following the terrifying break-in on July 7.
The homeowner had stepped out briefly, unaware that their 13-year-old daughter remained inside. Cox forced his way in and rummaged through the property, hunting for valuables including jewellery, a mobile phone, a watch, and a bank card.
Terrified Teenager Caught Off Guard
Making his way upstairs, Cox stumbled upon the unsuspecting girl sitting in her bedroom. Shocked, she froze as the intruder entered. But Cox quickly fled the scene when spotted and was stopped by a neighbour moments later, who promptly alerted the police.
Burglar Caught After Using Stolen Card
Cox, from Market Place, Morpeth, was arrested shortly after his arrest when he tried to buy alcohol using the stolen bank card. He admitted guilt to burglary and fraud charges in court last Tuesday and was handed a hefty jail sentence.
Residents are urged to stay vigilant and secure their homes following this chilling incident.
