Thief nabbed after smashing car window and maxing out victim’s cards in Gravesend
A motorist’s peaceful Sunday turned sour when he returned to his Ford Fiesta parked on Stuart Road to find a smashed side window and his wallet gone. The owner soon discovered his bank cards were being used for dodgy purchases across town the very same day.
Fraud spree sparks police hunt
The victim reported the crime to police, who launched an investigation. Just two days later, officers swooped on a suspect in Wrotham Road.
Charles Belsham charged with theft and fraud
Charles Belsham, 40, with no fixed address, was arrested on February 14. The next day, he faced charges of theft and seven counts of fraud. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody ahead of a Maidstone Crown Court hearing on February 20.
