Man’s Body Found in River Cray Sparks Police Probe

A man was found dead in the River Cray near Crayford Way on March 3, triggering a swift police response. Although initially investigated, authorities have now confirmed there’s nothing suspicious about his death.

Quick Police and Marine Unit Response

Officers were called just before 10:45am and arrived promptly alongside the Metropolitan Police’s Marine Policing Unit. The body of a man, believed to be in his 60s, was recovered from the water.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “The man’s next of kin have been informed. His death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Emergency Services Tried to Save Him

The London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene after reports of a person in the water. Despite their best efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The ambulance service stated: “We sent a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer to the scene. Very sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Water Safety Warning as Weather Warms Up

While the exact circumstances remain under investigation, foul play is ruled out. This tragedy underscores the need for caution near waterways—especially as warmer weather draws more people outdoors.

Authorities urge everyone to stay vigilant and take safety precautions when near rivers and lakes to prevent further incidents.
