Ilford Stabbing Shocks Community as Young Man Dies
Detectives are hunting killers after 24-year-old Akeem Dylon Barnes was fatally stabbed in Ilford early Sunday morning.
Chaos at Telegraph Mews
Police rushed to Telegraph Mews, Seven Kings, at 6:10am on 24 November following reports of a violent fight. Initially, no stab wounds were found at the scene. Minutes later, officers were called to Ilford Lane where they found Akeem with serious knife injuries.
Officers gave first aid until paramedics arrived. Akeem was rushed to an east London hospital but tragically died at 12:36pm.
Another Injured in Same Attack
A post-mortem at West Ham Mortuary confirmed death by stab wound. At about 6:30am that same morning, a second 24-year-old man was admitted to hospital with stab injuries. Police believe both victims were hurt during the fight at Telegraph Mews.
Police Plead for Witnesses
Detective Chief Inspector John Hughes said: “We are renewing our appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. One man is now dead and a second, who is now in a stable condition, could easily have shared the same fate. It is vital we find those responsible for this vicious, and in the case of Akeem, deadly attack.
“I urge those who know the killers not to protect them. Help us remove dangerous, violent individuals from your community.
If you know who they are, my officers are waiting to speak with you, and anything you tell us will be treated in the strictest confidence.”
No arrests have been made yet and inquiries continue. Witnesses or anyone with footage is urged to call police on 101 quoting 1776/24NOV.
