Manhunt Underway After Grandfather Stabbed to Death in Greenford

At 4.06pm on Tuesday, August 16, an 87-year-old grandfather was fatally stabbed near Runnymede Gardens, Greenford. Police rushed to the scene after reports of a man bleeding from stab wounds.

Emergency services battled to save him, but despite their efforts, Thomas O’Halloran died at the scene.

Victim’s Final Moments Captured in Shocking Attack

Detectives believe Mr O’Halloran was attacked on Western Avenue shortly before 4.06pm. The brave pensioner then travelled about 75 yards on his mobility scooter to Runnymede Gardens, where he flagged down a passerby for help.

Officers from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are now hunting a suspect spotted fleeing with a knife in hand.

Police Release CCTV of Knife-Wielding Suspect

The man seen escaping the murder scene was wearing grey shorts, a dark t-shirt, a white baseball cap, and distinctive white patterned builder gloves.

“We are keen to identify the man in the CCTV images as soon as possible,” said Detective Chief Inspector Jim Eastwood. “He is clearly dangerous. Do not approach him. Call 999 immediately if you know him or have any information.”

Detectives urge anyone with dashcam or cycle helmet footage of the area at the time to come forward.

Mr O’Halloran’s life was stolen in a shocking, unprovoked attack,” said Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson, head of policing in west London.

“He was a well-loved figure in our community. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this heartbreaking time.”

“Detectives have been working non-stop to catch the culprit. You’ll see more officers patrolling locally in the coming days—please speak to them if you have any concerns or information.”
