Teen, 16, Fatally Stabbed in Broad Daylight

Heartbreak in Chippenham as 16-year-old Shayne Hambakachere was fatally stabbed on London Road around 4pm on Saturday, 31 January. The Hardenhuish School pupil was rushed to Southmead Hospital in Bristol after desperate efforts by Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance crews and local paramedics. Sadly, he died the next day at the Major Trauma Centre.

15-Year-Old Arrested, Investigation Ongoing

Police quickly arrested a 15-year-old boy, who remains in custody as murder detectives question him. London Road, near Royal Oak Close, was sealed off for two days for forensic probes but has now reopened.

Detective Inspector Darren Ambrose said: “This is a tragedy which has resulted in a young man losing his life. We understand the concern this will cause locally, and our thoughts are with Shayne’s family and friends.”
