Early Morning Raids Snap Four Suspects
Greater Manchester Police busted four suspects in Bolton this Thursday morning (5 February 2026). The arrests link directly to a fatal smash last month that tragically took four lives.
Officers executed simultaneous warrants in Ladybridge and Bolton town centre. They were backed by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and Trading Standards during the coordinated swoop.
Charges: Fraud, Stolen Goods & Vehicle Theft
- A 42-year-old woman and 46-year-old man were caught on suspicion of fraud.
- A 22-year-old man faces charges of handling stolen goods.
- An 18-year-old man was picked up for aggravated vehicle theft.
All four remain in police custody as the investigation heats up.
The Crash That Shook Bolton
The arrests tie back to a horrific collision on Wigan Road at around 12:45am, Sunday 11 January 2026. A red Seat Leon smashed into a Citroen C4 Picasso, killing four men on the spot — the driver and two passengers in the Seat, plus the Citroen’s driver.
Five more passengers were rushed to hospital. One woman was critically injured but is now in stable condition. Specialist officers continue to support the victims’ grieving families.
Police Plea: Witnesses Urged to Come Forward
“Our investigation into this tragic incident has led to four arrests following warrants in Bolton this morning,” said Detective Inspector Andrew Page, head of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
“We have boosted patrols in Bolton, with PCSOs out on the streets to reassure the public and answer questions.”
“We urgently need anyone who saw the vehicles before or during the crash — or has dashcam or CCTV footage — to contact us.”
