Chaos erupted on Hackney Road early this morning as a huge fire broke out in a six-storey block. The London Fire Brigade leapt into action after 18 frantic 999 calls flooded in at 6.57am, reporting a flat ablaze.
60 Firefighters and Eight Engines Battle Fierce Flames
Teams from eight stations, including Bethnal Green, Shoreditch, and Whitechapel, raced to the scene. Around 60 firefighters tackled the inferno that swiftly engulfed the third, fourth, and fifth floors of the building.
Four People and a Dog Rescued – Miraculously No Injuries
- Firefighters rescued four residents and a dog using ladders and fire escape hoods.
- One victim was carried to safety by the brave crew.
- Remarkably, nobody was hurt in the blaze.
Cause Unknown as Investigation Gets Underway
Officials have launched a full probe into the cause of the fire, which remains a mystery for now.

The Mirror can reveal that he was convicted of unlawful wounding and common assault at Maidstone Crown Court in December 2023, in relation to an attack on a woman and a man. Treeby was sentenced to 14 months in prison, suspended for two years, a court official confirmed.
