Acid Attack Shuts Down Busy Bloomsbury Square
Part of Bloomsbury Square and the junction with Bloomsbury Place in Central London have been sealed off following a shocking acid attack.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
Police, paramedics, and firefighters from the London Fire Brigade scrambled to the incident just before midday on Tuesday at around 11:40am. Anti-terror officers were also spotted attending the scene, which remains a hive of activity.
Victim Sprayed in Face During Alleged Robbery
A white male in his 30s was treated in an ambulance after being sprayed in the face with a corrosive substance that left his eyes inflamed and irritated. Police revealed detectives believe the attack happened during a personal robbery.
Crime Scene Locked Down – No Arrests Yet
A large cordon surrounds number 27 Bloomsbury Place, a hotel and serviced flats, where the incident reportedly took place. The Met Police confirmed a crime scene is ongoing, with no arrests made so far.
A Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 11:18am on Tuesday, 13 April to reports of a corrosive substance attack at Bloomsbury Place, WC1. Officers, London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade attended. At the scene a male, aged 30s, had been sprayed in the face with a substance that inflamed his eyes. Early investigations suggest the attack occurred during a personal robbery. The victim was treated at the scene. No arrests have been made.”
