A double tragedy has struck Greenock, as a woman and a man were found dead in a suspected murder case. Alison McLaughlin, 53, and Neil McLaughlin, 57, were discovered lifeless on Banff Road on Friday, January 5, 2024.

Police launched a murder investigation after the grim discovery. Detectives confirmed Alison was a victim of foul play, while inquiries continue around both deaths.
Family Pleads for Privacy
“Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of both Alison and Neil. They have asked for privacy at what is a very difficult time for them,” said Detective Inspector Smith.
Case to be Sent to Procurator Fiscal
Authorities are finalising their investigation before sending a detailed report to the Procurator Fiscal for further scrutiny and potential prosecution.
