Nottingham Sergeant Shines at Global Youth Summit
Sergeant Jemma Connor-Iommi, the driving force behind youth engagement in Nottingham South, took centre stage at a prestigious London summit. The event, organised by the World Game-Changers charity, was held aboard the iconic HQS Wellington – a former Royal Navy WWII ship moored on the River Thames.
Bringing Youth Leaders to the Big Stage
Impressed by her groundbreaking community work, Sgt Connor-Iommi was handed nine extra summit invitations. She didn’t waste a second, bringing along a stellar group of youth leaders and young people from Nottingham, including faces from St Ann’s.
“To be invited to the summit was a great honour and highlights the partnership working we have achieved. The already close relationship between police and community is developing all the time and events like this can only help,” said Sgt Connor-Iommi.
Learning, Networking, and Awards
The summit packed a punch with talks on podcasting, powerful communication, and global networking. Inspirational women, unsung heroes, and youth leaders also took home awards recognising their incredible efforts.
“It was a great opportunity to meet people from across the world, share ideas, and find out how others are connecting with young people,” added Sgt Connor-Iommi.
Police Praise and Future Ambitions
Inspector Karl Thomas, City South’s district commander, praised Sgt Connor-Iommi’s work:
“It’s fantastic that Sgt Connor-Iommi’s youth engagement is gaining international attention. She’s a shining example of promoting meaningful connections between police and community. I hope everyone who attended came back buzzing with new ideas.”
