Man Caught After Hospital Breakout in SW London
One of two men who fled Springfield Hospital in southwest London has been tracked down. Ramon Martin, 31, was found hanging around Clapham Junction and is now back in custody.
Manhunt On for Second Escapee
Police are still hunting for 20-year-old Adil Maxamed, who remains on the loose after slipping away from the same hospital. Officers are warning the public not to approach him.
Maxamed was spotted at Tooting Bec station at 10.35pm on 19 July, boarding a Northern Line train. He is believed to have connections in the Kingston area.
How They Escaped
Late on Friday, 19 July, three men smashed a glass door to break out from Springfield Hospital on Glenburnie Road, SW17. The Met swooped quickly, detaining one at a south London home in the early hours of Saturday, 20 July.
Ramon Martin was caught that afternoon, but the search for Maxamed is ongoing.
Police Issue Public Warning
Maxamed is currently a patient under the Mental Health Act. CID officers from southwest London are leading the investigation, backed by Met specialists.
