Sword-Wielding Man Arrested After Shocking East London Attack
Emergency services swooped on Hainault, east London, early this morning after reports of a man brandishing a sword and driving a vehicle into a house. Witnesses say people were stabbed in the terrifying incident.
Chaos Erupts in Thurlow Gardens
The drama unfolded shortly before 7am when the suspect allegedly rammed his car into a property in Thurlow Gardens. He then attacked several members of the public and two police officers before being arrested at the scene.
A 36-year-old man is now in police custody. The condition of those injured remains unconfirmed as authorities continue to assess the situation.
Police Issue Reassurance After Shocking Attack
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan said:
“This must have been a terrifying incident for those concerned. I know the wider community will be feeling shock and alarm. People will want to know what has happened and we will provide more information as soon as we can.”
Officials stress there is no ongoing threat to the public. Police confirm they are not hunting for additional suspects and say the attack does not appear to be terror-related.
