Two Arrested in High-Speed Bentley Theft Chase Across Kent

Police have arrested two suspects linked to a string of car thefts across west Kent. The dramatic swoop happened near Bluewater and Sevenoaks following a high-value Bentley Bentayga heist.

Bentley Stolen and Chased on A2

The luxury Bentley was reported stolen from near Snodland at around 2:30am on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Just 30 minutes later, police tracked the vehicle to the busy A2, sparking a blue-light pursuit. The chase ended on Darenth Wood Road where officers stopped the car.

A search of the vehicle uncovered suspected signal-jamming devices. A 54-year-old man from east London was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and going equipped for theft. He was later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Second Suspect Caught in Sevenoaks with Suspicious Van

In an unrelated incident the same night, officers arrested a 34-year-old man from Sevenoaks after stopping a Ford Transit van on Lea Road. Inside, police found a suspected door-opening device, multiple vehicle keys, ignition parts, over £400 in cash, and a slingshot.

The man faces charges of going equipped to steal and drug-driving offences. He has also been released on bail while investigations continue.

Police Urge Vehicle Owners to Take Precautions

Kent Police have issued crucial advice to protect vehicles from theft:

  • Keep Keys Out of Reach: Store keys and fobs away from windows and doors to prevent thieves from grabbing them.
  • Use Signal Blockers: Keep keyless fobs in Faraday pouches to stop electronic interception.
  • Disable Key Fobs: Check if your car fob can be switched off when not in use.
  • Install Trackers: Fit tracking devices to help recover stolen vehicles.
  • Boost Security: Set up CCTV or doorbell cameras covering parking spots.

Kent Police continue to crack down on car crime and urge anyone with information to come forward.
