Huge Blaze Hits Wood Green Roof – 70 Firefighters Battle Flames

Firefighters scrambled to a major blaze at Firs House on Acacia Road in Wood Green late Wednesday night. Ten fire pumps and an aerial ladder rushed to the scene just after 10.30pm as flames tore through the roof.

  • About 20 residents were evacuated from the block of flats amid the fire.
  • Initial reports raised fears that some people were unaccounted for.

Fire Brought Under Control – No Serious Injuries

By 11.30pm, crews had the blaze under control, with the fire spreading from one section of the roof to another before being contained.

All persons are accounted for and there are no serious injuries,” a London Fire Brigade spokesperson confirmed.

Firefighters remain on site damping down hotspots as an investigation into the cause gets underway.
