Shoppers Evacuated as Army Bomb Squad Moves In

Chaos erupted at Prospect Place when staff at Pizza Hut spotted a suspicious item before lunchtime. The entire shopping area was swiftly evacuated. Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts deployed a robot to carry out two controlled explosions and safely neutralise the threat.

Car Park Entry Closed, 100-Metre Exclusion Zone Enforced

The entrance to the car park remains sealed off. TK Maxx triggered the fire alarm at around 12:15pm to clear customers. A 100-metre safety cordon has been set up, leaving many unable to retrieve their vehicles. Police have been collecting car keys from drivers and are personally moving vehicles out of the danger zone.

Police Guard Suspicious Bags Before Robot Detonates Them

Officers stood watch next to a blue car within the cordon, closely inspecting a bag and satchel beside it. The items were later detonated by the EOD robot. A police spokesperson confirmed the area remains blocked off due to the “discovery of a suspicious package” and specialist officers have taken over the investigation.
