Vandals Smash Historic Hastings Church

Hastings Police have stepped up patrols after a shocking vandalism spree at Old St Helens Church. Between May 9 and May 16, offenders broke into the site and smashed sandstone blocks around the Tower wall, causing major damage to this treasured landmark.

Old St Helens Church isn’t just any building — it’s a Scheduled Ancient Monument and Grade II listed, ranked among the oldest in Hastings. The destruction has rocked the community and local authorities, sparking serious concerns about preserving the town’s heritage.
