The emergency services are currently responding to a fire at a high-%%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%%rise building in england/%%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%%/”>Birmingham %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%% Centre.

West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that they received the call shortly after 4.30pm on Monday, 15 September, regarding an incident on Colmore Circus scotland/”>scotland/queensway/”>Queensway.

Emergency Response

In a statement, the %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%% service reported, ‘At present, six fire engines, three brigade response vehicles, and a hydraulic aerial platform are in attendance at a fire on the top floor of a 16-storey high-rise.

They added, ‘Colmore Row is closed while we %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_4%% at the scene. Due to it being rush hour, please avoid the area and seek other transport routes at this time.’

Fire crews have made significant progress in getting water to the fire, which has now been surrounded. A full evacuation of the building, which is currently disused, has been completed.

This is a developing incident.
