A woman has been taken to hospital and a man arrested following a serious road traffic collision that saw a car overturn in Ruislip on Friday evening (April 11).
Emergency services were called to Field End Road at around 8:40pm, after a car reportedly struck a pedestrian and flipped onto its roof near the roundabout between Victoria Road and Eastcote Lane.
Arrest Made at the Scene
A 39-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug driving, the Metropolitan Police confirmed. He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
Officers were called to the scene after a car was reported to have hit a pedestrian,” a Met Police spokesperson said. “The victim, a woman in her 50s, was taken to hospital. Her injuries have since been confirmed as non-life-threatening.”
Emergency Response
The London Ambulance Service responded swiftly, sending an ambulance crew and an incident response officer to the scene.
“We treated a person at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre,” a LAS spokesperson said.
Photos from the scene show the car overturned, with police cordons in place and traffic diverted from the area for several hours. The northern side of the roundabout was completely blocked off.
Traffic Disruption
The incident caused significant disruption to local traffic, with bus routes 114 and 282 temporarily affected. Police remained on scene to manage traffic flow and assist with recovery efforts.
The road was reopened to vehicles at approximately 11:15pm.
Ongoing Investigation
The Met Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision. Witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage are encouraged to come forward to assist with the inquiry.
