Flats Ablaze in Canning Town High-Rise
Firefighters were scrambled to a fierce blaze on the seventh floor of a towering block in Rathbone Market, Barking Road, Canning Town, just after 9am on Friday, 17th February 2023.
12 Fire Engines Rush to Scene
Reports came in of people trapped inside the smoking flat, triggering a massive response. A dozen fire engines roared to the scene as crews raced to tackle the ferocious fire.
Brave Firefighters Battle Blaze
Firefighters, kitted out with breathing apparatus and hose reels, charged inside to douse the flames. They also deployed an aerial ladder platform and used internal dry risers to fight the blaze from multiple angles. The incident is ongoing, with more fire crews being called in.
Residents Evacuated and Road Closures Enforced
Neighbours were quickly evacuated and given smoke hoods for protection. Several were assessed after exposure to smoke in the modern residential tower. Authorities have sealed off nearby roads and launched an investigation to find out what sparked the fire.
