Stolen Ford Focus Yields £491,500 Worth of Cocaine
On February 16, 2022, Giacopazzi stole a Ford Focus that was untaxed and uninsured. The very next day, police searched the vehicle under the Misuse of Drugs Act. They found a rucksack stuffed with cocaine blocks and drug paraphernalia.
“That’s my car,” Giacopazzi admitted when he arrived at the scene where the Focus was seized.
Massive Cocaine Haul Leads to Arrest
Forensic experts tested the drugs inside the car, uncovering 4.9kg of cocaine. The street value? Up to a staggering £491,500.
Giacopazzi was arrested on March 31, with officers also seizing his phone and vehicle. A further search of two addresses found 153 grams of cocaine, cash, and plastic bags, plus £1,000 in cash during the initial arrest.
Police Vow to Crack Down on Drug Supply
“Today’s result shows the consequences that await those who are caught being involved in the supply of drugs to our communities,” said Detective Inspector Duncan Brooker. “We will continue to take strong action against organised crime in Cumbria and will pursue those involved at all levels.”
Aaron Giacopazzi now faces serious jail time as authorities clamp down hard on drug crime in the region.
