Drugs, Cash, and a Knife: County Lines Dealer Nabbed in Chatham
Kent Police’s County Lines and Gangs Team struck gold on 6 February 2024 during a routine patrol on Railway Street. Officers spotted Andre Harris meeting with a suspect who then withdrew cash from a nearby ATM.
Alleyway Deal Leads to Arrest
The two slipped into a nearby alley where a quick exchange took place. Moments after Harris emerged, officers swooped in and detained him. A search uncovered three mobile phones and a hefty £514 in cash.
But that was just the start. At the police station, a further search revealed 32 wraps of heroin and 13 deals of crack cocaine hidden in Harris’s waistband. Plus, he handed over a lock knife found on him.
Chatham Crackdown: Harris Sentenced to Over Three Years
Harris, 22, from Hartford Avenue, Harrow, Greater London, was charged with possession of heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply, plus carrying a bladed article in public. He pleaded guilty at maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone Crown Court and was sentenced on 8 July 2024 to three years and two months behind bars.
Detective Sergeant Kelly Leventis said: “Our team targets county line dealers who consistently supply local users. Harris was quickly identified and detained in Chatham.
“Coming to Medway armed with a knife made his actions even more unacceptable. A prison sentence was unavoidable.”
