Speeding Killer Jailed for Crash That Claimed Lover’s Life

Cameron Holdsworth, 24, has been locked up for seven years after a deadly crash on October 1, 2019. The Fishburn man was speeding nearly twice the limit and on the wrong side of Coniston Road, Blyth, when his yellow Skoda Fabia smashed into a heavy goods vehicle.

Tragically, passenger and girlfriend Hannah Inman, just 21, was killed instantly. Holdsworth pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving at Newcastle Crown Court today.

Family Pays Heartbreaking Tribute to Hannah

Hannah’s devastated family released a touching statement: “Hannah, our gorgeous one. You left us without warning, not even a goodbye. We didn’t see this coming, it hit us by surprise and when you left a part of us died.”

They added: “You are our shining star, bright and beautiful. Your smile and infectious laugh would brighten anyone’s day. You will always be missed and loved by many. Every day for the rest of our lives, we will be loving and missing you – rest in peace, sleep tight my baby girl. LYFAA.”

Police Condemn Reckless Driving That Ruined Two Families

Sergeant Dave Roberts of Northumbria Police blasted Holdsworth’s dangerous driving. He revealed the defendant was doing up to 56mph in a 30mph zone and had crossed onto the wrong side of the road before the collision.

“Our investigation also found Holdsworth’s car was heavily modified to boost speed and disable safety features,” Sgt Roberts said. “His choices that night tore apart more than one family and have irreversible consequences.”

He warned the public: “Our roads aren’t racetracks. The laws exist to protect everyone. Speeding and reckless driving can cause fatal injuries and lead to police cracking down hard.”

Holdsworth Faces Jail and Driving Ban

Alongside his seven-year jail term, Holdsworth was banned from driving for five years. His horrific actions serve as a stark warning of the deadly consequences of speeding and irresponsible driving on UK roads.
