Brutal Murder Shock in Wolverhampton: Man Tortured and Stabbed to Death
Victim Lured and Attacked in His Own Home
Simon Wilkins subjected 39-year-old Arturas Busma to a savage torture session before leaving him to die with a stab wound to the chest. The victim’s body was found at Wilkins’ flat in Tettenhall Road, bearing burn marks and injuries consistent with being stamped on.
Busma had been lured to the property after a chance meeting with Wilkins outside a local convenience store, where they bought alcohol together. There is no evidence they knew each other beforehand — Busma was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Killer Hands Himself In, Claims Self-Defence
The day after the attack, Wilkins, 28, turned up at Wolverhampton police station claiming he had punched a man who then stopped breathing. He insisted Mr Busma pulled a knife on him first and that he acted in self-defence.
But a police search of the flat uncovered nothing but the battered and bloodied body of Mr Busma, showing signs of a prolonged, brutal assault.
Justice Served: Wilkins Sentenced to 17½ Years
Wilkins admitted murder, but his claim that Mr Busma was the aggressor was rejected by the court. Wolverhampton Crown Court sentenced him to a minimum of 17 and a half years behind bars.
The murder charge against a 33-year-old woman initially tied to the case was dropped.
Family Left Devastated
Detective Inspector Laura Harrison said: “Sadly, Mr Busma’s family will never truly understand why their loved one was taken away so brutally. It appears he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, encountering Wilkins by chance. He was persuaded to go to the flat, where he was killed.”
“We can only hope the lengthy prison sentence offers some comfort to those grieving.”
