Paedophile Mark Cranstoun Locked Up for 12 Years
Mark Cranstoun attacked his victim at a Gun Lane flat just after 11pm on Saturday, July 30, 2022.
Kent Police swiftly responded to reports and stormed Cranstoun’s home to arrest him. The 48-year-old was charged with rape and sexual assault the very next day.
Trial and Sentence
Cranstoun pleaded not guilty at Maidstone Crown Court but was found guilty after a trial. On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, he was sentenced to 12 years behind bars.
He must serve at least eight years before applying for parole and will remain on the sex offenders register for life.
Justice for Victims
“Mark Cranstoun exploited a young woman for his own sexual gratification,” said Detective Constable Kath Lumsden-Earle. “His 12-year prison sentence means he can’t harm anyone else for a long time. We hope this brings the victim and her family some solace.”
Kent Police take all reports of violence against women and girls seriously and act quickly to bring perpetrators to justice.
