Motorist Caught DRUNK Driving with Catapult in Car
Police were called to a crash on Lahore Road, Tidworth, on December 4 last year. Dean Johnson, 42, one of the drivers involved, tried to sneak off the scene when officers arrived. But his escape bid was short-lived.
Failing Breath Test Leads to Arrest
Officers quickly detained Johnson and noticed he smelled of alcohol. He flunked a roadside breath test and was taken into custody. There, his breathalyser reading was more than three times the legal alcohol limit.
Catapult and Ammunition Found in Car
That wasn’t all. Police also found a catapult and ball bearings tucked away in the door pocket of his vehicle. Johnson was slapped with another charge of possessing an offensive weapon.
Facing the Music at Court
Yesterday at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court, Johnson pleaded guilty to driving over the limit and the weapon charge. He was banned from driving for 26 months, fined £738, and hit with £380 in costs and surcharges.
