Fixated Teacher Matthew Mowbray Convicted of Abusing 11 Boys Over Ten Years

Shocking Abuse at Eton College

Matthew Mowbray, 49, from Locks Heath, has been jailed for horrific crimes at a prestigious college. The Reading Crown Court convicted him on 25 November for abusing 11 young boys between 2009 and 2019. The vile offences rocked the school community and exposed a dark decade of abuse.

Guilty Plea and Additional Convictions

On 18 November, Mowbray admitted to six counts of making indecent images of children and a voyeurism charge. But the court went further, unanimously finding him guilty of eight counts of sexual activity with a child. His sickening behaviour was more widespread than first thought.

Disturbing Details Uncovered

  • A year-long Thames Valley Police probe began after a courageous victim came forward.
  • Officers uncovered thousands of indecent images on Mowbray’s devices, including the worst (Category A) abuse photos.
  • He had shockingly superimposed faces of boys in his care onto some vile images.
  • Mowbray also sexually touched boys in their bedrooms at the college.

Investigator Praises Victims’ Bravery

Detective Constable Kathryn Webb, Child Abuse Investigation Unit, said: “These convictions are a result of an 18-month investigation supported by a strong partnership with Eton College and the local authority. Mowbray abused a position of trust which he utterly betrayed. The victims and witnesses, many children, showed incredible courage coming forward under very difficult circumstances. They deserve credit for stopping him committing further horrors.”

Mowbray faces sentencing at a future date, as justice prepares to be served for the vulnerable boys who bravely spoke out.
