Cash Stash Bust! Shane Cameron, 24, of Bedford, was slapped with a 16-month jail term after cops found bags full of cash in his car during a dramatic Luton arrest.
Big Haul of Criminal Cash Found
Cameron pled guilty at Luton Crown Court on 12 December 2020 to possession of criminal property under the Proceeds of Crime Act. The arrest happened on 8 December when officers stopped his vehicle on Gardenia Avenue. Inside, they uncovered a massive plastic laundry bag stuffed with bundles of cash, plus several other overflowing shopping bags.
Zero Tolerance on Organised Crime
Detective Sergeant Steve Lambeth from the Met’s Proactive Money Laundering Team vowed to crack down on crime. “We take a zero tolerance approach to this sort of criminality,” he said. “This cash wasn’t just loot — it fueled serious organised crime across the UK and came from previous illegal acts.”
Community Help Needed to Fight Crime
Lambeth added the seizure delivered a major blow to gang activity. “Our officers keep working hard to bring criminals to justice, even through pandemic hurdles,” he said. Police urge anyone with info on criminal goings-on to come forward.
