Knife-Wielding Audi Robber Locked Up for Eight Years
Junior Pelius Britto, 27, from Kilburn, was sentenced to eight years at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday, 27 May. He was found guilty of conspiracy to commit robbery in a spate of chilling attacks across St John’s Wood.
‘Audi Bandit’ Targeted Watch-Wearers
Britto and his gang used a stolen Audi S3 to stalk victims between March and July 2019. Their targets? Anyone flaunting flashy watches.
They used a large hunting knife—and sometimes a fake gun—to threaten victims before stealing their valuables. The violent spree terrorised the neighbourhood for months.
DNA Evidence Seals His Fate
Britto’s downfall came after police recovered his DNA on a hunting knife sheath dropped during one robbery. Officers arrested him at Gatwick Airport in August 2019, leading to this conviction.
Met Police Crackdown Driving Down Crime
The Metropolitan Police’s Operation Venice cracked the case amid a wider push to slash serious violent crime in London.
Recent stats show a stunning 39% drop in robbery offences since 2019/20. The Met vows to keep up the pressure, using prevention, diversion, and tough enforcement to protect communities.
“Driving down violent crime in London is the top priority for all in the Met. We are confident we will continue to make progress, working with our partners to keep our communities safe,” police said.
