Man Jailed for Brutal Assault Leaving Woman with Life-Threatening Injuries

Emergency Call Reveals Shocking Scene

On Monday 11 January 2021, Adam Fleming made a 999 call reporting an injured woman at his home. But according to a concerned visitor, he seriously downplayed the extent of her injuries.

When paramedics arrived, they found the victim with a severe head wound and heavy bruising to her face. Firefighters had to carefully carry her down the stairs and into the ambulance, rushing her to hospital.

Victim’s Condition So Critical She Was Airlifted

The woman’s injuries were so horrific, she was airlifted to a specialist hospital for urgent treatment. She suffered multiple fractures and a bleed on the brain, and was placed in an induced coma.

Fleming, of Old School Row, denied any involvement, claiming he was in another room and only heard a “thud,” thinking she had a fit. Despite this, police arrested him after questioning.

Fleming Finally Admits to Grievous Bodily Harm

The 27-year-old was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and pled guilty in September 2021. On Tuesday 7 December 2021, he was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court.

Police Warn Violence Against Women Will Not Be Tolerated

Detective Constable Molly Turner said: “Fleming caused his victim great pain and left her with life-changing injuries. No one should suffer like this. kent-police/" title="Kent Police" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Kent Police takes violence against women very seriously.”

“This prison sentence won’t undo the damage done to the woman and her family, but it shows that Fleming, a violent and volatile individual, is now behind bars.”

“Anyone who has been a victim of violence is urged to come forward. We will fully investigate and connect victims to support networks to help rebuild their lives.”
