Man Jailed for Manslaughter After Southwark Head Injury Death
A Brixton man was sentenced to three years behind bars after a deadly brawl in Southwark.
Fatal Fight Outside South London Restaurant
On Friday 30 October, 25-year-old Jose Adolfo Licona Valladares appeared at Inner London Crown Court. He was convicted of manslaughter over the death of 45-year-old Santiago Lenin Borja Donoso.
The tragic incident unfolded on Sunday 23 February outside a restaurant on Old Kent Road, SE1. The pair got into an altercation, during which Santiago was pushed to the ground, suffering a fatal head injury. He died weeks later on Tuesday 31 March.
Guilty Plea and Police Reaction
Originally charged with grievous bodily harm, Valladares pleaded guilty to manslaughter on Tuesday 11 August following Santiago’s death.
“This was a very tragic incident in which a man needlessly lost his life,” said Detective Sergeant David Brooks of Specialist Crime South. “This altercation meant one man very sadly lost his life. Another will now spend time behind bars.”
