Wembley Man Jailed for Brutal Hotel Knife Attack
Viorel Radoi, 43, has been slammed with a 26-year, three-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to attempted murder. The chilling attack unfolded at a luxury hotel in Portman Square, W1, back in April.
Knife Attack Shakes Upscale London Hotel
On Friday, 20 April at 3.42pm, police were scrambled to the hotel following reports of a vicious stabbing. The victim, a 24-year-old hotel maid, was found battered with multiple knife wounds in the basement laundry area.
The court heard Radoi, who also worked at the hotel, stormed in and viciously attacked her before bolting from the scene. Despite her injuries, the woman kept her wits about her and used the hotel’s internal phone to summon help.
Heroic Call Saves Victim’s Life
Emergency services rushed the injured maid to a central London hospital, where she underwent surgery. Thankfully, her wounds were deemed non-life threatening.
Police launched a full manhunt but Radoi vanished without a trace — until he turned himself in at an East London police station three days later. He was promptly charged and locked up.
Detective Praises Victim’s Bravery and Hopes Sentence Brings Closure
“Thankfully the victim’s injuries did not take her life, although there is sufficient evidence to suggest that Radoi’s intention was to do just that,” said Detective Constable David Lend of Westminster police.
“I hope the sentence handed down affords the victim a sense of justice having been done and a measure of closure.”
