Predator Muharrem Jailed for Five and a Half Years
Saner Muharrem, 25, of Homer Drive E14, was handed a hefty five-and-a-half-year prison sentence at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, 12 January. Convicted of 11 serious offences, including inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, Muharrem’s reign of terror finally ended after a two-week trial.
Police Crack Down After Online Abuse Discovery
Detectives opened their investigation on 20 October 2021 after intelligence revealed Muharrem was uploading indecent images of children online. His phone was seized during a police raid at his home, uncovering disturbing evidence of contact with numerous underage girls via social media platforms like Snapchat and Instagram.
Specialist officers discovered over 500 indecent images stored on his devices, exposing the scale of his vile activities.
Ignored Court Orders, Continued Abuse
Despite a Sexual Risk Order (SRO) granted in November 2022, Muharrem kept up his predatory behaviour. He sought to obtain more indecent images of girls under 16 and attempted to meet with several young victims. On one chilling occasion, he met a 13-year-old girl and kissed her without consent.
PC Simon Marchant-Brown, lead investigator, stated: “Muharrem would befriend girls on social media, pretending to care. He offered money, alcohol, and cannabis to coerce them into sending indecent images.
“Today’s sentencing shows how serious these offences are. He manipulated young girls and threatened to leak images to get more.
“I want to commend the bravery of the seven young victims who spoke out in court. Without them, this predator would still be free.”
“If you have been a victim of sexual abuse, please come forward. We are ready to help and support. We will pursue and convict offenders relentlessly.”
Legal Consequences and Support
Muharrem was found guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 21 September 2023. Alongside his jail sentence, he was slapped with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and various restraining orders.
