Around 8.30pm, Panayi got off the ferry and started walking up the pontoon. Spotting police, he quickly turned and tried to head back to the ferry. Officers stopped him, but he resisted and attempted to flee—discarding a bum bag in the process.
Cash, Drugs, and Phones Seized
Police searched the bag and found seal grip bags containing powder and cannabis, along with roughly £4,000 in cash. Two mobile phones were also confiscated.
Charged and Remanded Ahead of Sentencing
Panayi, from Eddington Road, St Helens, Isle of Wight, was arrested on the spot. He now faces charges for possession of cannabis and amphetamine with intent to supply, plus possession of criminal property.
He appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court on 27 November and admitted all charges. The 31-year-old was remanded in custody and is set to be sentenced on 12 January.
