Drug Bust at Gosport Ferry Terminal: Man Caught with £4,000 and Class A Drugs

Antonio Panayi, 31, was arrested at Gosport ferry terminal on the evening of Wednesday, 25 October, during a police knife arch operation.

Suspicious Behaviour Sparks Police Action

Around 8.30pm, Panayi got off the ferry and started walking up the pontoon. Spotting police, he quickly turned and tried to head back to the ferry. Officers stopped him, but he resisted and attempted to flee—discarding a bum bag in the process.

Cash, Drugs, and Phones Seized

Police searched the bag and found seal grip bags containing powder and cannabis, along with roughly £4,000 in cash. Two mobile phones were also confiscated.

Charged and Remanded Ahead of Sentencing

Panayi, from Eddington Road, St Helens, Isle of Wight, was arrested on the spot. He now faces charges for possession of cannabis and amphetamine with intent to supply, plus possession of criminal property.

He appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court on 27 November and admitted all charges. The 31-year-old was remanded in custody and is set to be sentenced on 12 January.
