Street brawl horror: Tyrone Knighton jailed for vicious attacks in Cotmanhay

Nightmare fight breaks out on Cotmanhay streets

Tyrone Knighton, 27, with no fixed address, was arrested alongside two others after a violent melee erupted near the corner of Cotmanhay Road and Stringer Close around 9pm on Monday, 27 November.

Residents alerted police after spotting a brutal street brawl that sent shockwaves through the neighbourhood.

Brutal assault outside Charlotte Street shop

Knighton launched a savage punch to a man’s head outside a shop on Charlotte Street. Not stopping there, he staggered to Cotmanhay Road and Stringer Close, where he attacked a second victim before striking a third man in the face with a metal object.

Victims suffer serious injuries

One victim collapsed during the assault and was rushed to hospital with a fractured eye socket and skull injuries – injuries so severe they shocked emergency responders.

Knighton jailed for five years at Nottingham Crown Court

Knighton was charged with assault with intent to rob and causing grievous bodily harm. He pleaded guilty and was slammed with a 60-month prison sentence at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday, 31 January.
