PC Charged with False Imprisonment and Assault After Twickenham Incident
Off-Duty Cop Busted Over Alleged Assault
PC Sam Grigg, a South West Basic Command Unit officer, was charged last Thursday with false imprisonment and assault. The alleged offence happened on December 2 at a house in Twickenham while he was off-duty.
Victim Known to Officer, Minor Injuries Reported
The incident was reported on December 6. The victim, a woman in her 20s who knows Grigg, suffered minor injuries but did not need hospital treatment.
Met Police Take Immediate Action
PC Grigg is set to appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on December 8.
Commander Jon Savell, head of the Met’s professional standards team, said:
“I recognise this news will cause concern and I would like to reassure the public that we took robust action as soon as the report was received by police.
“As criminal proceedings are now active, it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
Investigation Underway
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed. A referral will also be made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, ensuring independent oversight of the case.
