Monster Groomed and Raped 13-Year-Old, Sentenced to Life
Chris Morriss, 49, from Liverpool, has been jailed for life after grooming and raping a 13-year-old girl. He used gifts to win her trust before satisfying his sick sexual desires. The victim revealed how Morriss’s crimes shattered her family and stole her chance at a normal childhood.
Convicted on Ten Counts of Rape, Labelled Dangerous Offender
Morriss was convicted of ten rapes against the teenager and sentenced earlier this week. He must serve at least 11 years before even being considered for parole. The judge branded him a dangerous offender, keeping him off the streets for good.
Previously Caught for Breaking Sex Offender Rules
Earlier investigations by Lancashire Police began when Morriss broke the terms of his sex offenders register after a prior conviction. Trying to dodge detection, he even changed his name. In July last year, Morriss was jailed for 3½ years for this breach. It was during this probe that the horrific rapes came to light.
Police and Prosecutors Hit Out at Predatory Paedophile
“Morriss is a dangerous and predatory paedophile who groomed this young girl and then repeatedly raped her,” said Sgt Martin Walker of South CID. “The magnitude of his actions on this adolescent cannot be overstated; he has effectively stolen her childhood.”
“Chris Morriss is a dangerous sexual predator who has ruined another young girl’s life,” added Brett Gerrity, Senior Crown Prosecutor. “He lavished her with gifts before exploiting her for his own sexual gratification, with no regard for the harm he was causing her.”
The victim’s impact statement revealed her family lives in constant fear and worry. “She hasn’t had a chance to figure out who she is or who she is supposed to be,” Gerrity said. “She wants him locked up so he can’t harm anyone else.”
Police and prosecutors confirmed they worked closely to ensure Morriss was brought to justice and warned this sentence should reassure the public how seriously such crimes are treated.
