Three Nabbed for Drug-Driving in Just Two Days by Nottingham Police

Nottinghamshire Police’s city west Operation Reacher team is cracking down hard on drug-driving. Officers arrested a 38-year-old man after pulling him over in Aspley, spotting he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and smelling cannabis in his car.

Roadside Drugs Test Snags Suspect

The drama unfolded on Wednesday, 19 July, at around 12.35pm on Hilcot Drive. Police stopped the motorist and conducted a roadside drugs wipe after detecting the strong scent of cannabis. A mouth swab confirmed traces of the drug, leading to the man’s arrest on suspicion of drug-driving.

Operation Reacher Nets Two More Drug-Driving Arrests

  • About an hour earlier, a 34-year-old man was detained in Bodmin Drive, Aspley, during the same patrol.
  • The day before, Tuesday 18 July, a 40-year-old man was busted for drug-driving after failing a roadside test at midday.

All three arrests highlight the team’s relentless patrol efforts across the city west neighbourhood.

Police Send Strong Warning to Drivers

“Anyone who makes the decision to get behind the wheel while under the influence puts both themselves and others at risk, which is clearly not okay,” said PC Nathan Scott of Operation Reacher.

“Drug-driving and drink-driving is extremely dangerous and can cost people their lives. We will always take action against offenders.”

“If you suspect someone is driving under the influence, call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

The message is clear: Nottingham’s police are on high alert and won’t hesitate to arrest those flouting road safety laws.
