Paedophile Pair Busted in West Yorkshire Sting
Richard Chappell, 44, from Thornhill, West Yorkshire, thought he was chatting to parents ready to offer their kids for sex. In reality, he was messaging undercover officers. The depraved dad-of-two has now been found guilty of attempting to arrange a child sex offence and inciting child exploitation.
Partner Also Jailed Over Sick Crimes
Chappell’s sweetheart, Cherie Scott, 29, wasn’t off the hook either. The couple lived in Crigglestone, Wakefield, between 2016 and 2019 when they carried out their vile acts, police revealed.
Scott was convicted of sexual assault of a child and admitted making and distributing indecent images. She was locked up for three years and nine months at Leeds Crown Court on Friday.
Closed-Door Details Revealed
- Chappell exchanged disgusting messages with accounts he believed to be parents offering kids for sex — but these were police stings.
- He bragged about the sick acts he had done and planned to do.
- When cops raided his home in April 2020, they seized children’s underwear, sex toys, phones, and computer gear with thousands of indecent images.
- Scott was caught confessing to a sexual touching offence via messages.
- The abused child was later identified by police.
Strong Words From Police
Detective Superintendent Carl Galvin, head of Yorkshire and Humber’s Regional Organised Crime Unit, slammed Chappell as a “depraved individual with sexual perversions involving very young children.”
Both were slapped with indeterminate Sexual Harm Prevention Orders to keep them on tight leash.
