78-Year-Old Pedophile Sentenced to 22 Years for Brutal Child Abuse
Roger Tester, 78, from Cowgate Hill, Dover, has been locked up for a whopping 22 years for raping and abusing a child victim starting in the late 1970s.
Decades of Horror Finally Brought to Justice
Tester unleashed a horrific campaign of sexual abuse against his victim, including rape, gross indecency, and multiple counts of indecent assault. The victim bravely came forward to Kent Police in December 2019, triggering a thorough investigation.
Justice Served at Canterbury Crown Court
Despite Tester’s denial, a jury found him guilty on 18 counts, including rape, after a trial ending on 9 November 2023. He was sentenced that same day to 22 years behind bars, plus an additional year on licence once released.
Police Praise Victim’s Courage
“Tester robbed his victim of her childhood, forcing her to suffer horrendous abuse on repeated occasions,” said Detective Constable Amy Drury.
“His refusal to admit his crimes was cowardly and caused the victim further trauma having to relive her ordeal in court.”
